How to Stay Organised & Decluttered at Workplace?

The festive season is over and you’re just back from the work after a long break from home. What you expect to be greeted with is a warm welcome and probably a welcome back greeting lying on the table to greet you inside a commercial space for rent. Instead, what you see is a huge pile of mess and papers lying everywhere screaming for your attention.

You’d definitely not envisioned that! Working from a cluttered and messy office desk and drawers is a definite pull off and actually ends up killing the entire mojo. Not just a clean and organized desk and workspace boosts productivity and improves morale but also helps to an extent in reducing employee absenteeism due to sickness.

Here are some doable tips on keeping your office desk clutter free and organized after a festive break at office space in IT SEZ Gurgaon:

Get into the Habit & Keep it Going

Don’t take office desk and space organization as a one-time exercise or an overhaul happening once in a few months or at some occasion but get into this habit of cleaning up regularly, at any given chance. Clutter has this tendency of getting piled up over a period of time which stresses on the fact that it must be attended to periodically before you’re buried neck deep into the pile of papers.

Get Ruthless

The golden rule to follow while arranging and decluttering your desk is to get ruthless and discard away anything and everything that is not used, broken, and is saved for a rainy day but not used since ages. While decluttering is important, doing charity is equally important. Make a pile of things you wish to discard and donate it away to the needy.

Stick to ‘Office Zones’

Like most offices, your office must be having designated zones for the intended activities like meeting, conference, break room, kitchen, and more. Run through all zones to check for the items that aren’t stored at their intended spaces and relocate them to where they belong.

Turn Digital

While you don’t need to print every other mail you receive or documents you think are important, there are reasons shared drives are created. Take back up of crucial documents and mails and store them at multiple places to avoid printing unnecessarily and keeping a pile of papers on your desk.

Use Storage Boxes & Organizers

Though quite a simple desk organization tip, but resorting to inexpensive desk organizers and storage boxes is a great way to arrange everything at their designated spaces. Keep separate bins and boxes for documents, files, stationary items, and don’t forget to label them for handy retrieval. Keep paper clips, tacks, and sticky pads always handy for quick and easy do away.

Run Some Reward Program

Doing all this sets an example in the office for others to follow the suit too. It’s a great team-building activity to announce some reward for the cleanest and arranged desk in the office. It gets everyone into the momentum and makes the mundane task of desk organization a great fun for everyone.

How to Switch Off for the Holidays in 2020 While Working Remotely?

Remote Working Challenge During Holidays

It is the holiday season officially and nearly one-third of the employees based everywhere across the country are working from home, including commercial spaces for rent in Delhi/NCR. This is one of the most challenging times for most employees as constant remote working since a couple of months have thrown the work-life balance out of the window and lines between personal and professional lives are getting blurred.

Switching off from work during holidays and weekends is the biggest challenge all remote workers are facing. It’s really difficult to unplug after work hours amidst non-work distractions, loneliness, and technical issues. Employees based out of office spaces in IT SEZ Gurgaon and everywhere else have started adopting measures to disconnect from work by the start of holidays.

If you too are working remotely and looking for valuable tips on how to unplug from work during holidays, consider the tips below;

1.Mark Clear Boundaries & Communicate Everyone

This is important not just for you own self but for everyone around you’re working with closely. Ensure that you notify everyone concerned well in advance about the holidays and your unavailability for work during that period. The best way to do that is to set an automated mail reply to everyone during that period.

2.Switch Off ‘Literally’

You can’t literally unplug from the work during holidays if you don’t disconnect from the work-related stuff. It’s best to pack up your laptop and other stuff and keep it somewhere away from your designated workspace so that holidays feel like one. Log out from your work email from your smartphone and disconnect from all work-related apps.

Keeping the technology, we use at work, at bay during holidays will save you from the fatigue that comes with work during holidays for remote workers.

3.Plan Well

Working from home is anyways so stressful for all the remote workers out there and on top of that, if you’re dreading thinking about a pile of emails to be thrown your way once you’re back from the holidays; you need to devise a plan. Plan your activities in a way that you’ve some buffer before proceeding for the holidays so that your team doesn’t suffer in your absence.

Prioritise the work as per their deadlines and make sure you’ve everyone in loop with the plan you’ve chalked out.

These tips will help you physically switch off from work when you proceed on holidays while ending in leaving you relaxed and stress free.
