How to Switch Off for the Holidays in 2020 While Working Remotely?

Remote Working Challenge During Holidays

It is the holiday season officially and nearly one-third of the employees based everywhere across the country are working from home, including commercial spaces for rent in Delhi/NCR. This is one of the most challenging times for most employees as constant remote working since a couple of months have thrown the work-life balance out of the window and lines between personal and professional lives are getting blurred.

Switching off from work during holidays and weekends is the biggest challenge all remote workers are facing. It’s really difficult to unplug after work hours amidst non-work distractions, loneliness, and technical issues. Employees based out of office spaces in IT SEZ Gurgaon and everywhere else have started adopting measures to disconnect from work by the start of holidays.

If you too are working remotely and looking for valuable tips on how to unplug from work during holidays, consider the tips below;

1.Mark Clear Boundaries & Communicate Everyone

This is important not just for you own self but for everyone around you’re working with closely. Ensure that you notify everyone concerned well in advance about the holidays and your unavailability for work during that period. The best way to do that is to set an automated mail reply to everyone during that period.

2.Switch Off ‘Literally’

You can’t literally unplug from the work during holidays if you don’t disconnect from the work-related stuff. It’s best to pack up your laptop and other stuff and keep it somewhere away from your designated workspace so that holidays feel like one. Log out from your work email from your smartphone and disconnect from all work-related apps.

Keeping the technology, we use at work, at bay during holidays will save you from the fatigue that comes with work during holidays for remote workers.

3.Plan Well

Working from home is anyways so stressful for all the remote workers out there and on top of that, if you’re dreading thinking about a pile of emails to be thrown your way once you’re back from the holidays; you need to devise a plan. Plan your activities in a way that you’ve some buffer before proceeding for the holidays so that your team doesn’t suffer in your absence.

Prioritise the work as per their deadlines and make sure you’ve everyone in loop with the plan you’ve chalked out.

These tips will help you physically switch off from work when you proceed on holidays while ending in leaving you relaxed and stress free.
